I Am Afraid of Outsourcing to the Philippines
Angel my Virtual Personal Assistant, who is located in Makati, Philippines, was talking to a client in England earlier today, who raised this fear, and I'm not surprised at her reaction, because I'm also afraid that an outsource that I do not know, would take any work I might outsource to them, and mess it up and even steal it.
I rang the client up, and reassured her that although I work in a separate company, I have nevertheless interviewed some of the people who are working in CatchFriday.com, and I continue to help my nephew Danilo Del Campo the President of Dolma Interactive Web Services Incorporated, who trade under the name, CatchFriday.com I also have my own staff working in the Filipino office, and I pay their salaries.
For example:
I interviewed Angel, my Virtual Personal Assistant in May, and I was especially pleased that she had physically studied Interior Design and Architecture at Goldsmith's University in London, and knew my country. She spoke excellent English and I could not detect an accent. Indeed she is thoroughly professional and keeps to UK office hours, albeit that the Philippines are seven hours ahead of the UK. Angel starts work at 10 am British Summer Time (5pm Filipino Time) and finishes at 5pm (1am Filipino time).
Have you spoken to Angel yet? If you would like to you can get her on the phone:
+44 20 8432 6450 or from in the UK 020 8432 6450
US: +1 315 753 0089
Liz works on the US desk and for two years I carried her CV with me in my laptop, and now she has been working in the Filipino office for the last two years. Filipinos are loyal, hardworking and motivated. The US phone is not always manned, but we aim to change that. An enquiry via the web site is actioned within 24 hours.
Liz's CV was immaculate, and she used to work for the Japanese Ambassador in Manila, Philippines.
Karen is one of the web designers in the office, and I remember how impressed I was when Karen designed my company site for me www.cateringpage.co.uk/ and she also designed the Catch Friday site www.catchfriday.com/
Alan, another designer, designed the Branding site www.idolma.com/ Alan works full-time for a client.
What makes Catch Friday different from other outsourcing companies, is that on the pay monthly option, it's possible to choose the person that you want to work for you from a number of CVs, and interview them by phone, skip or yahoo messenger.
Staff who work in long contracts get 15 days holiday a year and their bank holidays are tuned to your country.
CatchFriday is thus not a sweatshop, and in general you treat a person well, and they will give back to you in kind.
If you want slaves go to China, where some people do work in sweat shops.
Catch Friday are competitive on price, and the prices of the basic skills on their website, but I am sure that you can always find cheaper. They are not going to sacrifice quality.
I know a guy, who has a web design company in Harrow, and he outsourced a project to a company in India, and they did it very well and he was pleased. He then outsourced an ecommerce site, and regrettably they botched it up, with the result that he lost a client of seven years standing.
Catch Friday guarantees it's work. If a chosen worker does not do a job properly, or upsets a client - they replace the person. They will work closely with you.
They are not GetFriday, (and that comment is not to prejudge Get Friday), I am sure that GetFriday who work out of India, work well.
CatchFriday is not competing with India, and indeed they have good relations with firms in India.
CatchFriday is though unique, and warm to my heart.
