In my hospital bed in Charing Cross Hospital, I cannot see a nurse in sight.
A care assistant informs me that she is a newly qualified RGN, but it is the hospital policy that they are not offering jobs to new nurses, whilst they are closing wards and making other nurses redundant.
I can't understand the NHS anymore, and let alone Brown's Britain! There is something to be said for the billions going into a computer system that doesn't work, and a staff who are so disillusioned by audits, statistics and admin, that they cannot give basic nursing care.
MRSA is down a few percent, and Brown has announced a doubling of matrons, to work as domestic supervisors.
Just where are this government's priorities and planning? I thought that Brown with more than ten years cabinet experience would know that by now, but something has become seriously flawed in the NHS plan - was it Labour's promises?
I predict in the NHS of the future that there will be a drastic shortage of doctors, nurses, and an abundance of bureaucrats.
Please prove me wrong.
