The Broken Window in the 4 Hour WorkWeek
Tuesday morning on A40 bumper to bumper - same old drive. If you drive to work you'll know what I mean!
I have been updating this blog by email and this is my first time to do that - I am an Anglo Saxon so any hiccups, spelling errors I will update later - I am just a real person than a program.
Got to thinking about Timothy Ferris (the 4 hour workweek) - great idea in practice - damned theory! - Ferris suggested that you could outsource everything to India and they could do it for you - but at what price, what skill level to make that happen?
A first glance at their site reveals low prices, but this is for a person who is unqualified.......I always read the small print don't you?
In general some clients who come to Catch Friday have already tried another call center / VA vendor, and we have heard different stories from entrepreneurs / SMEs who have been dissatisfied with the poor service.
So who gets it right?
I would be brash in saying that we are perfect - nobody has got the whole caboodle in their hands, have they?
So why are we different from a call center in India?
CatchFriday is a British company and customer service is essential, and every client is personal, rather than impersonal.
The other day I phoned for an insurance quote, and got a person in Bangalore (if you live like me in the UK this is entirely normal) and as the lady started to talk to me I noticed that she got my name right at the beginning of the conversation but later became muddled.
So in this example could you say that the person that you choose, will have the same mind set as you?
The comprehension may be different, and thus they may take longer to do a task than you do.
Is then the 4 hour workweek possible? I think that the book is hypothetical, and in practice in the beginning you need to work more, don't you?
At CatchFriday we find that our Virtual Assistants are really motivated, and gel well with clients, perhaps that is an outcome as a result of the investment in training that we make in each of them.
