Dell Shows Us It is Possible to Earn from Twitter
If you are still looking for proof that you can earn money from Social networks, here it is.
In an entry that was posted on the Dell blog last June 11, the company announced that Dell has earned over $2 million from sales directly related to its Twitter activities. Of course this income was not earned overnight. The company has been on the social networking site for 2 years now using the account name: twitter.com/DellOutlet. The $2 million sales figure is just for the Outlet sales, from people directly clicking on the links from the Twitter account and buying from the Dell Outlet. Dell outlets sell refurbished units. If the company takes into account all the other sales activities that have resulted from people clicking on the promos on the DellOutlet and then proceeding to the Dell website to purchase new units then the company estimates that it has surpassed $3 million in revenue from its activities in the micro-blogging site. The company started posting promos and other marketing-related messages on Twitter in June 2007.
This shows how with a dedicated personnel working on the company’s Twitter account, posting creative and important messages on the account that it’s really possible to earn a good following and to earn from the network. In the case of Dell, it had all the opportunity to take advantage of the social network- it has good deals to offer consumers and it was just a matter of getting the word out there.
What does this mean for your company? If you have outstanding value and deals to offer consumers then you can also take advantage of Twitter to spread the word about these offers and drive your sales up. Dell shows us it is possible to earn directly from Twitter activities.
Dell saw a golden opportunity in Twitter and took advantage of it. Dell’s success on Twitter seems simple enough to replicate. It just took advantage of a free networking platform to reach many consumers. Today, DellOutlet has over 600,000 followers on the network. Dell shows that if you put in enough time on these effective communication apps, that you can get amazing results. Of course it takes time and effort to succeed in social marketing. Small companies may not have the time to update their Twitter and other social networking accounts. If this is the case for your company, you can hire CatchFriday, a virtual assistant company to manage your social networking accounts for you.
