“Social media” are the latest buzzwords on the internet these days.  So what can you use the different social media for?


Companies can take advantage of the many uses of different social media.  Here are some of the uses of social media.
Checking character references and background- you can use social media to check the charcter of people who are applying for work in your company.  You can also use the social media to check the attitude of an employee.  Twitter tweets, for example, can tell a lot about a person.  There are also social networks that allow you to view the employment history of a person such as LinkedIn.  Professional and social networks can really help a company choose the best job applicant for the business.

Checking the business and activities of your competition and other companies in your industry- you can use social networks to see what programs and activities your competitors are engaged in.   You can use the social networks for intelligence and for gaining information about your competitors and your industry.

Networking with different individuals and businesses- social networks can help foster cooperation and partnership between companies working in the same industry.  You can find partners for business and your other endeavors- personal or otherwise.

Connect with clients on a more personal level- you can use social networks to communicate directly to consumers.   You can address your clients’ concerns directly so that their issues don’t turn into full-blown PR disasters.  When you use social media to communicate with customers you are covering different aspects of the business from marketing to customer service.

Use social media for marketing- social media can be used for effective marketing. What’s great about social media is how it is very cost-effective. The returns can outweigh the cost by a great margin especially if the company does social marketing right.  A simple website such as Twitter can bring tremendous results for the company when it comes to sales.  If you have a very good product, you can just use all the different online tools available to sell your product and you can expect good results.

To provide customer service- because you can reach your customers through the different social networks and they can also reach you, social networks can be used to provide customer support to clients regarding the products that they buy from you.
