Customer Service and Social Media

Delivering customer service is one of the most important uses of social media.

There are companies that do not look at customer service as a way to penetrate the market or to really show prospective clients what they really stand for and what value they can offer clients. These companies see customer service as a matter of keeping a clean reputation after a sale has already been made.  But these days clients are looking more than nice product features, they want to make sure that they can depend on the company’s customer service.  With many companies competing for the same clients, it is important for a company to assure its clients that it has an edge over its competitors in terms of providing outstanding customer service.

Different types of social media are great tools for extending customer service to clients. What’s great about social media is that they really allow companies to reach out to clients and meet their needs.  Of course the effectiveness of social media as a customer service tool depends on how the company uses them. Social media have become such an integral part of people’s lives that is only smart that companies use them to deliver customer service.

Social media have many things going for them- one of these things is speed. Social media provide companies with the opportunity to respond quickly to customer concerns.  This means that anytime a client tries to reach a company through social media, the company can easily clear the issues before they become big.  Of course good customer service does not depend solely on speed; the service must be delivered effectively.

When a company uses social media to deliver satisfactory customer service, it is not only really reaching out to clients and helping them, the company is also, without even intentionally doing so, making it known to other customers that it is capable and very willing to help customers out during the whole process of the sale- from the preselling period to the after-sales period. Social media can really help a company project a positive image that it cares about its clients and is willing to do everything possible to keep the clients happy.
