How to Build Trust in Social Media

Selling requires one important ingredient: trust

Whether you are selling your products online, through a physical store , through a catalog or through some other way, there is one very important ingredient—trust.  Trust is the foundation of any kind of relationship from personal to business.  Without trust, you cannot expect your personal and professional relationships to grow. Clients must be able to trust you, your investors should be able to trust you and you must also be able to trust all the individuals and companies that you have to deal with.

When clients trust your business, then they will not only continue to purchase your products and avail of your services, they will also recommend you to others.  Personal recommendations help a great deal in starting new relationships with clients.  When people directly recommend you to others, they are also making the other people trust you more easily.

Social media can help businesses establish trust between them and their clients.  With social media becoming a constant thing in the lives of people, it makes sense for companies to take advantage of them to reach clients and to establish stronger connections with them.

When you have successfully built a good reputation online, your business can easily gain the trust of clients. The key of course is establishing an image that you can be trusted.Social media cannot do this if your business is not really worth trusting.Social media can only help you transmit the right kind of messages to the public.  But you have to remember that just as much as social media can help build trust, it can also help breed mistrust especially if you do not make your online messages consistent to your company values.

Your goal is to use social media to successfully transmit your values to your client. You can do this by being transparent but not too personal in your social media use.  You can also do this by implementing effective marketing and PR plans that help you really communicate with clients and show them what your business is all about.
