Not all assistants are created equal. Some virtual assistants have better skills than others. Other VAs have limited skills but just the right ones that you need for your business. There are those that
Here are some of the traits and important factors that you should look for when hiring a virtual assistant:
- Availability- many virtual assistants handle more than just one client. They are masters of time management. You can hire a VA who can dedicate all of his working hours to you or you can hire a VA to work for you a few hours each week. You just need to make sure that the VA you hire can meet the demands of your business and is available to work for you when you need him/her. Do you need a VA to work weekends? Ask the VA for his/her availability. Do you need a VA to work for at least 10 hours each day? Talk to the VA and clarify the schedule. Make sure you make the proper arrangements with your VA even before you hire the company.
- Professionalism- there is so many virtual assistants today. Some virtual assistants deliver unparalleled service to clients. Others do not exactly deliver outstanding results. Make sure that the VA you choose is capable of treating you and your clients with respect. The client should deliver results as promised and must also know how to respect people’s time. Do not keep a VA that keeps breaking the deadline even if the VA asks for cheap fees.
- Skill set- check the virtual assistant’s skill set. If you have specific tasks that you want the VA to do for your business, make sure you ask the VA if he/she has had previous experiences doing said task. It will also help your business if you decide to hire a VA company that has a reliable support team for its virtual assistants. The VA may not have the skills to perform a certain task but if he/she has a good support team behind him/her that can complete the other tasks then at least you know everything that you need to get done will get done.
