Creating an Amicable Image Online

One of the worst things you can possibly do is create an image that people do not like or cannot relate to online.

Social media marketing is all about creating the right image for the individual or the company online.  The best way to use social media of course is to let your personality shine through.  This will only work beautifully for you or your business if you have a great personality to begin with.  If you don’t, you should work on that first and foremost.  Social media are communication tools that allow individuals and companies to reach an audience with a message.  They are not some magical tools that will help you create an image that is totally separate from what you really are in real life or how your products truly are in real life.   Social media are just there to help you transmit your brand’s image to the public quicker and more effectively.

Part of creating a positive image online is making sure that you present your business in the best light and yet not be annoying to people.  While you should take all precautions not to see incompetent, you also cannot appear arrogant.  You need to find a way to highlight your business’ achievements and your products’ features without lying about them and also without appearing overconfident.

You still need to be relatable and approachable for social media marketing to work.  It is called “social media marketing” precisely because you need to be “social”.

What’s good about social media is you have control over what gets out there from your business.  You have control on the kind of messages you send out there, and you can send as many as you want as often as you want through the channels that you want.  Then you have greater control over the kind of image you want to project to the public.  Since the public also has participation in social media, they can also contribute to your “image”. This means that they can post good or bad things about your company that can affect the way people perceive you.  This is why if you want to establish a good online image, you must also monitor what other people have to say about your business.
