Instead of Pushing Products to Clients, Pull Clients In
With social media, your new goal is to pull clients in, not push products to clients.
Of course there will be some part of the internet marketing process wherein you will push your products to the clients (that is the whole process of marketing and selling) but before you can even do hard-selling, your goal with internet marketing is to pull clients in.
First get clients interested. Then gain their trust. Then sell things to them. There are so many pieces of information available online and clients usually do not appreciate if you keep hard-selling and jamming even more information down their throat. Internet users usually love that about the internet- that there are millions of information posted daily and yet they get to choose what information they want to partake in their internet use experience.
This is why instead of pushing and hard-selling, your goal in using the internet to sell is to pull clients in. Get them interested in what you have to say. Let them follow you online. Entice them to keep following your posts online. Develop stronger relationships online and get people to trust you so that you can sell to them.
Social media are powerful and cost –effective tools for marketing. They have become so effective that companies are really jumping on the social media bandwagon and cooking up different ways to use different kinds of social media to sell. But because people do not just sit through ads, you do not have a captive audience when you are “broadcasting” ads online. People can always click on the X button. People can always read something else and completely ignore the information you are trying to transmit.
This is why you should pull clients in. Use twitter to get people to really read what you say and visit the links you post. Draw these potential clients out of twitter and into your company website.
Social media really allow companies to develop intimacy with clients. This kind of intimacy, a strong familiarity of brand values by the clients will help the company sell over the internet. Instead of forcing your products on your potential clients, make sure that you get people to get curious enough to check out what you have to offer.
