Developing Your PR Strategy

Even through tough times, it is important to maintain PR efforts to sustain the business and increase sales.

The largest global companies really pay close attention to public relations.  Small companies are not so keen on pouring large budgets to PR especially during tough economic times because they are not sure if spending money on PR can really pull in the sales. But PR isn’t really about pulling in the sales.  It really is about creating a positive image for your brand to ensure that the business will experience long-term success. PR can have a positive impact on businesses that can ultimately lead to good income so it really makes sense for companies to implement intelligent PR tactics even in a tough economic climate.

Build your brand, attract customers, establish loyalty and increase sales through effective PR using social media.

Build a strong community around your brand- using social media build a strong community around your brand. Focus on gaining plenty of good followers truly interested in your brand. If you do things right, these people can help you get the word out there about your promos and events.  When they share your messages to their own networks then you get more people reading your contents.

Start a media list- create a list of media and press people that you can send press releases to.  Do not send information blindly to just anyone on your contacts list. Be deliberate in your communications and tailor-fit your PR for the publication or the media outfit.

Make sure your selling pitch is compelling- do you know how many press releases media personnel receive in a day? Maybe a hundred or so each day. Make sure that when the news editor or reporter reads your story that there is a relevant pitch in there that the news producer can use as a jumping point for a story.

Distribute press releases through PR websites- there are many free PR sites out there that you can use to distribute press releases and other contents. Take advantage of them and combine their use with paid websites so that you can really get maximum exposure for your business.

Always network with people- just continue to network with all kinds of people. You never know when an opportunity to work with these people on projects will be available to you.  Social networks provide great opportunities for meeting people.

Hire virtual workers- to lower PR costs and get all PR tasks completed, hire virtual assistants to help you out instead of full-time PR personnel.
