Tips for Setting up a Good Home Office
As a virtual assistant, it is important to have a good home office that will allow you to work efficiently.
It is very important to set up your home office in such a way that you can really get a lot of work done even if there is no one to watch over your shoulder. Having a good home office is also not just about getting work done but also gaining physical and mental health. If you have a comfortable office, you can avoid accidents, discomforts and even illnesses such as carpal tunnel.
Here are some tips on how you can have a good home office so that you can really do more during the day and finish your tasks with greater efficiency.
1.) Get a very good desk. Make sure that the desk you get matches your body. Some desks are too tall or too short and can cause you to have backpains. Make sure that your desk is big enough to accommodate your things without being cluttered. Make sure it is not too big taking up most of the space in your home office but make sure it is not small also. There are adjustable desks available in the market you can also check those out at the stores.
2.) Get an ergonomic chair. Since you will be spending a lot of time in the office, you want to make sure that you get the best chair that you can afford. Think of the chair as an investment to your business and your health. A bad work chair can cause back pains, discomfort and illnesses. When you invest in a really good chair, you may be paying an arm and a leg in the beginning but you will definitely get your money’s worth. You can work in comfort and you may even end up doing more work.
3.) Make sure that you place the monitor of your computer in the proper place. The very top of the monitor should be in the level of your eyes. It will be helpful if your desk is adjustable.
4.) Get a keyboard with curves. There are already keyboards that have contours that lower the risk of hand or wrist problems. If you cannot get keyboards with contours, you can also choose to buy wrist rests or wrist protections to help you prevent carpal tunnel.
5.) Get an ergonomic mouse. Get a mouse that is very convenient and comfortable to use. Since you will be using the mouse daily, you don’t want it to cause you strain.
6.) Install proper lighting. The lighting in your office is very important. It’s hard to focus on work when the room is too bright or too dark.
